IngramSpark revision fees in 2026: the $25 fee is gone

Short answer: as of February 1, 2026, IngramSpark file revisions are free and unlimited. The old $25-per-file fee — charged for changes made more than 60 days after publication — was eliminated. What still costs you is time (re-processing and re-proofing) and the separate market access fee, which rose to 1.875% of list price the same day.

Somewhere in your research you read that IngramSpark changes cost money — $25 every time you fix a file — and it made you careful, or nervous, or both. That was true. It stopped being true on February 1, 2026. This page exists because the old fee is still quoted all over the internet (and inside old copies of Ingram's own documentation), and authors are making 2026 decisions on 2024 facts.

What actually changed

The road here was bumpy: IngramSpark first signaled an end to its free-revision window (every revision at $25), then reversed course after sustained pushback from the author community and landed on unlimited free revisions — the most author-friendly version of the policy it has ever had, as the Alliance of Independent Authors' breakdown of the 2026 changes put it. If you find a page insisting revisions cost $25, check its date before you believe it — including, honestly, any page of ours from before this one. (Our own studio notes carried the old fee for months; it's why we date-stamp these guides.)

So is fixing a file now free? Yes — with three honest asterisks

  • Time is the cost now. A revised file goes back through processing and e-proofing. While it does, your book's production pauses around the change — a typo fix is free in dollars and still worth batching with any other fixes instead of dribbling them in weekly.
  • Complete files only. Revisions mean re-uploading a complete interior or cover file; partial page swaps are not accepted. Your “small fix” is a full-file rebuild and re-check — run it against the specs before it goes up.
  • The market access fee is separate. 1.875% of list price on distributed sales survived and rose. That's a per-sale cost, not a revision cost — but it's the number that actually changed your royalty math in February 2026, and most “Ingram got more expensive” posts are really about this line.

Free revisions changed the strategy, not the standard. A rejected or sloppy file still costs you weeks. Our free check runs all 13 KDP + IngramSpark checks on your actual files and tells you in plain English what to fix — once, completely, before you upload. Get the free check →

What this means for how you work

Fix errors when you find them. The old calculus — live with the typo until a bigger revision justifies $25 — is dead. Correct the file, re-proof, move on. Keep your source files forever: free revisions are only usable if you still have editable sources; a flattened PDF you can't change is the one revision problem money never could solve. And don't let “revisions are free” become “checking is optional”: the fee was never the real price of a bad file. The price was the launch that stalled, the bookstore order that hit a broken listing, the review that mentions the typo. Those are all still charged, in the old currency.

The honest limit of this page

Fee policies change — this one changed twice in a year. Treat February 1, 2026's terms as current when this guide was written (October 2026), and confirm against the pricing page inside your own IngramSpark account before making a money decision on it. If Ingram changes the policy again, this page gets a new date stamp, not a quiet edit.

Or send us the files — the check is free

Email your interior and cover PDFs and we'll tell you exactly what's wrong — in plain English, free, within 48 hours. If it does need fixing, the by-hand fix is $19 and we redo it free if IngramSpark rejects it for a formatting issue we were hired to fix. We rebuild files to be compliant with the platform's published spec — that's the promise we can keep.
